The secret to these Sweet And Savory Pork Chops lies in the ingredients. Fresh garlic brings bold aroma, honey adds a perfect balance of sweetness, and apple cider vinegar cuts through the richness for a beautifully tangy glaze. Simple staples, unforgettable flavor!

  • Pork Chops: The star of the dish, these tender, juicy cuts form the foundation of the recipe. Boneless chops cook quickly and evenly, while bone-in chops bring extra flavor and retain moisture during cooking—choose based on your preference!
  • Honey: The backbone of the luscious glaze, honey provides the perfect sweetness to balance the savory garlic, just as it does in the Honey Garlic Butter. Its sticky texture ensures the sauce clings beautifully to the pork, delivering flavor in every bite.
  • Garlic Cloves: Fresh garlic is a must for its aromatic and bold flavor. It complements the honey perfectly while infusing the dish with depth, taking these chops to the next level.

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Start by pre-heating your oven broiler to medium-high. (if you’re using the oven see recipe card at bottom) Pat the Pork Chops dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. This will help the seasoning stick. Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside while you prepare the honey garlic sauce.

  1. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a bowl combine the honey, garlic cloves, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for a slight kick). Stir until everything is well combined and the honey has fully dissolved. This sauce will be the key to the dish’s sweet and savory flavor.

  1. Sear the Pork Chops: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add in the olive oil. When hot, place the pork chops in the pan. Sear each side for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the pork should reach 145°F (63°C). Remove and set aside.

  1. Create the Glaze: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the Honey Garlic Sauce mixture to the pan, scraping any browned bits from the bottom for extra flavor. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  1. Coat the Pork Chops: Return the cooked pork chops to the skillet, turning them in the sauce to ensure they are evenly coated. Let them simmer in the sauce for another 2-3 minutes. For extra flavor, grab a spoon and coat some of the glaze over the pork chops as they cook periodically.

  1. Serve and Enjoy: Once the pork chops are fully coated in the sticky, glossy glaze, remove them from the heat. Serve the pork chops hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley or green onions for a touch of color and freshness.

Recipe FAQ’s

Can I Use Bone-In Pork Chops Instead Of Boneless?

Yes, both bone-in and boneless chops work well for this recipe. Bone-in chops tend to be juicier and more flavorful, but they may require a slightly longer cooking time.

Can I Make Honey Garlic Pork Chops Dairy-Free?

Absolutely! Simply replace the butter with a plant-based alternative or additional olive oil for a dairy-free option.

How Do I Fix Sauce That’s Too Thick?

If the sauce reduces too much and becomes too thick, simply add 1-2 tablespoons of water or broth to loosen it to your desired consistency.

Can I Use Honey Garlic Sauce For Other Proteins?

Yes! I’m a big fan of this sauce and you can see that I’ve adapted variations of it into our Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp Pineapple Skewers and Easy Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops bone-in or boneless
  • 1 pinch salt to season
  • 1 pinch pepper to season
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar, or any white vinegar
  • 1-2 tablespoons water (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven broiler (or grill) to medium-high heat. Season the chops with salt, pepper, and garlic powder before cooking.
  • Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Sear chops until golden on each side and cooked through (about 4-5 minutes on each side). Transfer to a plate; set aside.
  • Reduce heat to medium. Melt butter in the same pan, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Sauté garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add the honey, broth, and vinegar. Increase heat to medium-high and continue to cook until the sauce reduces and thickens slightly (about 3-4 minutes) while stirring occasionally. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water if the sauce thickens too much.
  • Add pork back to the pan, baste generously with the sauce, and broil/grill for 1-2 minutes or until edges are slightly charred.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve over vegetables, rice, pasta, or salad.

Notes

Baked Pork Chops:

  1. Preheat oven to 390°F | 200°C.
  2. Sear seasoned chops in a hot oven-proof pan or skillet over medium-high for 2 minutes per side — get them crisp.
  3. Remove chops and make your sauce following the recipe above (Step 3).
  4. Baste with sauce and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until you reach your desired doneness.
  5. Broil/grill for 2 minutes to get those caramelized edges!
Sauce Consistency: If the sauce reduces too much and becomes too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of water or broth to adjust the consistency.
Deglazing the Pan: After searing, don’t skip deglazing the pan with the sauce ingredients. Scrape the browned bits (fond) at the bottom of the pan as they add immense flavor to the sauce.
Cooking Time: Thicker pork chops may require an extra minute or two on each side. Use an instant-read thermometer to avoid overcooking.
Broiling for a Caramelized Finish: For an extra caramelized glaze, broil the chops in the oven for 1-2 minutes after cooking in the sauce. Keep a close eye to avoid burning and drying them out.

This sauce was really good. My boyfriend (a chef) always finds something negative to say about what I cook and this one had him stumped – he loved it. I added a few mushrooms to the sauce since I had them around and they were nice in it too. My pork didn’t crisp up but it was still delicious.

I’m sure your cooking is delicious! You deserve to be around people who will appreciate the time & love that’s put into cooking for someone

  2. Telsie says:

Mine came out fine and I also used a cast iron skillet for the searing, sauce and broiling. You probably just had it too close to the broiler and maybe let it broil a bit too long. I put my broiler on high (I only have high or low setting) and put the rack in the 2nd position from the top. I broiled for about a minute and a half and it looked done at that point.

So good and so easy! Just made a late night meal and I’m tempted to have a second serving.

These were absolutely perfect!! I’ve tried savory/sweet recipes like this before with pork chops and the flavor has always turned out just a little off but the sauce on this recipe is exactly what I’ve looked for for so long. I feel strongly about marinating my meats, so the only thing I did differently was leave the pork chops a salt + pepper “rub”, if you can call it that, overnight then only added garlic powder just before cooking. Going to try these with tofu for my vegetarian brother, because I know he’ll love the sauce!

This recipe was a hit with all 3 of my picky eaters; ages ten, five , and three. Getting them all to agree on food options is not an easy task, but they all loved the chops. The recipe was so very simple yet DELICIOUS. Thank you for sharing!

I just made this for dinner tonight after checking out your recipe. It came our absolutely delicious! Thanks for the great recipe, it’s definitely a keeper 😊

    Hi there,

I have to move the top rack down in my oven because most food will go from fine to burnt in about 30 seconds if its too close. If you are up for trying this recipe again, move your rack down a notch or two and keep an eye on it. Unfortunately most cook times are approximate because no oven is the same ( oh how I wish they were)

As far as how long the temperature takes to go from med-high to medium, that will again depend on the type of pan you are using and if you are using gas/electric/induction heat. I cook in enamel cast iron and usually have to go way lower on the temp than most directions because my pots conduct and hold heat very quickly and for a long time.

  7. Tasha says:

It appears that there are two separate cooking instructions. One for pan frying and one for oven baked. If you decide to do oven baked, do not cook the chops through in the skillet. Sear only. Then put into the oven to finish cooking.

I’m not much of a cook. I don’t really like to cook and I hate the age old question what’s for dinner tonight?
I made this recipe for a visiting niece and even cooking was pleasant as it smelled so good. These were definitely the best pork chops I have ever made and maybe ever eaten. I will save this recipe because I’m definitely making this again and again.
