The secret to these Sweet And Savory Pork Chops lies in the ingredients. Fresh garlic brings bold aroma, honey adds a perfect balance of sweetness, and apple cider vinegar cuts through the richness for a beautifully tangy glaze. Simple staples, unforgettable flavor!

  • Pork Chops: The star of the dish, these tender, juicy cuts form the foundation of the recipe. Boneless chops cook quickly and evenly, while bone-in chops bring extra flavor and retain moisture during cooking—choose based on your preference!
  • Honey: The backbone of the luscious glaze, honey provides the perfect sweetness to balance the savory garlic, just as it does in the Honey Garlic Butter. Its sticky texture ensures the sauce clings beautifully to the pork, delivering flavor in every bite.
  • Garlic Cloves: Fresh garlic is a must for its aromatic and bold flavor. It complements the honey perfectly while infusing the dish with depth, taking these chops to the next level.

How To Make Honey Garlic Glazed Pork Chops: Step-By-Step

Let’s get cooking! With just a few quick and simple steps, you’ll have tender, juicy Garlic Honey Pork Chops smothered in a mouthwatering glaze. Grab your skillet and let’s make magic happen!

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Start by pre-heating your oven broiler to medium-high. (if you’re using the oven see recipe card at bottom) Pat the Pork Chops dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. This will help the seasoning stick. Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Set aside while you prepare the honey garlic sauce.

  1. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a bowl combine the honey, garlic cloves, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for a slight kick). Stir until everything is well combined and the honey has fully dissolved. This sauce will be the key to the dish’s sweet and savory flavor.

  1. Sear the Pork Chops: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add in the olive oil. When hot, place the pork chops in the pan. Sear each side for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the pork should reach 145°F (63°C). Remove and set aside.

  1. Create the Glaze: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the Honey Garlic Sauce mixture to the pan, scraping any browned bits from the bottom for extra flavor. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  1. Coat the Pork Chops: Return the cooked pork chops to the skillet, turning them in the sauce to ensure they are evenly coated. Let them simmer in the sauce for another 2-3 minutes. For extra flavor, grab a spoon and coat some of the glaze over the pork chops as they cook periodically.

  1. Serve and Enjoy: Once the pork chops are fully coated in the sticky, glossy glaze, remove them from the heat. Serve the pork chops hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley or green onions for a touch of color and freshness.

Recipe FAQ’s

Can I Use Bone-In Pork Chops Instead Of Boneless?

Yes, both bone-in and boneless chops work well for this recipe. Bone-in chops tend to be juicier and more flavorful, but they may require a slightly longer cooking time.

Can I Make Honey Garlic Pork Chops Dairy-Free?

Absolutely! Simply replace the butter with a plant-based alternative or additional olive oil for a dairy-free option.

How Do I Fix Sauce That’s Too Thick?

If the sauce reduces too much and becomes too thick, simply add 1-2 tablespoons of water or broth to loosen it to your desired consistency.

Can I Use Honey Garlic Sauce For Other Proteins?

Yes! I’m a big fan of this sauce and you can see that I’ve adapted variations of it into our Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp Pineapple Skewers and Easy Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops bone-in or boneless
  • 1 pinch salt to season
  • 1 pinch pepper to season
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar, or any white vinegar
  • 1-2 tablespoons water (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven broiler (or grill) to medium-high heat. Season the chops with salt, pepper, and garlic powder before cooking.
  • Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Sear chops until golden on each side and cooked through (about 4-5 minutes on each side). Transfer to a plate; set aside.
  • Reduce heat to medium. Melt butter in the same pan, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Sauté garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add the honey, broth, and vinegar. Increase heat to medium-high and continue to cook until the sauce reduces and thickens slightly (about 3-4 minutes) while stirring occasionally. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water if the sauce thickens too much.
  • Add pork back to the pan, baste generously with the sauce, and broil/grill for 1-2 minutes or until edges are slightly charred.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve over vegetables, rice, pasta, or salad.

Notes

Baked Pork Chops:

  1. Preheat oven to 390°F | 200°C.
  2. Sear seasoned chops in a hot oven-proof pan or skillet over medium-high for 2 minutes per side — get them crisp.
  3. Remove chops and make your sauce following the recipe above (Step 3).
  4. Baste with sauce and bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until you reach your desired doneness.
  5. Broil/grill for 2 minutes to get those caramelized edges!
Sauce Consistency: If the sauce reduces too much and becomes too thick, add 1-2 tablespoons of water or broth to adjust the consistency.
Deglazing the Pan: After searing, don’t skip deglazing the pan with the sauce ingredients. Scrape the browned bits (fond) at the bottom of the pan as they add immense flavor to the sauce.
Cooking Time: Thicker pork chops may require an extra minute or two on each side. Use an instant-read thermometer to avoid overcooking.
Broiling for a Caramelized Finish: For an extra caramelized glaze, broil the chops in the oven for 1-2 minutes after cooking in the sauce. Keep a close eye to avoid burning and drying them out.

Mmmm. This recipe was delicious! I thought it would be too garlic, but honestly, I was eating the chopped garlic by the spoonful when the recipe was done! We used really thin pork chops, so we overcooked it. Next time, I’ll only bake the pork chops about 5 minutes. And there definitely IS going to be a next time!

In these days of self quarantine, I’ve made the old standbys over and over to the point where we’re sick of the same old stuff. I happened by this recipe, made it tonight, and I must say it was so easy to make and really delish. The hubby said “put this in the rotation”. High praise indeed!

Was awesome. My family and I were skeptical. Sweet meat never appeals to us much. I used a pork loin cut up as thick as pork chops. Turned out great. I followed recipe and always cook with cast iron! Be very careful!! Super hot, the whole pan! I used my own chicken broth and minced garlic. The loin was browned perfectly and sauce was sticky wonderful! A hit on the Davis Farm in Independence Ks! ❤️

    1. Monica says:

Can this be made with whole pork loin? Would I need to change the sauce recipe in order to bake the loin?

It says its 332 calories or something, for 4 pork chops. Is that how much each chop was or was 332 calories the amount for all 4?

    1. L says:

I am wondering the same thing, does anyone know?

    2. Lori says:

It is for one pork chop.

  9. Mary Jo says:

This was super simple and very delicious. Standard items on hand so no running to the store getting ingredients that you rarely use. Will try it on chicken next.
