16 Savoury Fall Recipes
With fall upon my U.S readers, I’ve rounded up some of the best Autumnal recipes! The Sweet Recipe Round Up has been so popular…it was a no brainer that a savoury one had to be compiled. Kicking off with the best sweet potatoes of your life!
1. Crispy Sweet Potato Wedges with Avocado Aioli
In an ocean of pumpkin, Sweet Potatoes usually get pushed to the backside of fall. But whyyy? How is that possible?
Another impossibility is the thought of crispy, crunchy Sweet Potato wedges. Wedges with a crunch when biting into them, and pillows of soft sweetness in the centre. With a creamy avocado aioli for dipping. This recipe has been immensely popular with my Instagram followers!
2. Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff
Comfort food at its finest. Pasta and a white wine spiked creamy sauce — also known as Beef Stroganoff — full of fall ready ‘shrooms and ready on the table in less than 20 minutes.
3. Turkey, Sweet Potato and Kale Cannelloni
A healthy and filling cannelloni stuffed with beautifully flavoured turkey, so smooth with the sweet potato and good-for-you Kale, baked in a rich and rustic sauce, and topped with a home made creamy béchamel sauce; a perfect fall or winter recipe. Or even Thanksgiving. Because turkey…and sweet potato…all in one hit.
4. Chicken, Green Bean and Butternut Squash Curry
A beautiful aromatic ‘kid-friendly’ curry, sweetened with creamy butternut pumpkin (or squash) and loaded with tender chicken pieces.
5. Pumpkin and Bacon Stuffed Portobellos with Browned Butter Sage
Roasted pumpkin smothered in garlic; crispy bacon and goats cheese stuffed portobello mushrooms drizzled with a browned butter and sage sauce. Lord help me. Because I also apparently have an obsession to browned butter. Browned butter honey garlic salmon….browned butter (low carb) cookies…well. You get my drift.
6. Cauliflower Hash Brown Egg Cups
Low carb and point friendly hash browns. Made into cups. With a perfectly runny egg. That’s it. That’s all that needs to be said.
7. Creamy Sun Dried Tomato and Parmesan Chicken Zoodles
This sauce. THIS SAUCE. Okay. Let me back up for a sec. Sun dried tomatoes and garlic and parmesan cheese infused in a cream based sauce, enveloping crispy, golden pan fried chicken strips and zoodles for the craziest low carb comfort food without feeling like a fit-foodie. All in good moderation — of course.
8. Browned Butter Honey Garlic Salmon
Browned butter screams fall. I think. So, this is the deal. Salmon steaks panfried on Browned Butter infused with garlic and honey; then grilled/broiled for an extra 8 minutes for extra golden, crispy and caramelised finish. So simple. Only 3 main ingredients. In under 15 minutes.
Here’s an old recipe I pulled out of my Instagram trenches. Well, not really. More like: a few of my readers made these this week and reminded me of how GOOD these are. Pesto and garlic infused Turkey meatballs…seared and browned before simmered in a rich and beautiful tomato sauce.
I love weekends. Especially when making a lasagna that has half the Weight Watchers points and calories of regular lasagna…with a better flavour and fresh ingredients. And this lasagna is extra special. Pumpkin slices throughout the layers give this lasagna an extra sweet and creamy pumpkin flavour…
11. Korean Bulgogi Beef Tacos with Kale Slaw
Bbq Beef Tacos — the Korean way — with a Kale slaw so good it’ll knock your socks off — with a side of Pico De Gallo.
12. Crispy Beer Chicken with a Drunken Mushroom Gravy
Golden chicken pieces marinaded in lager and baked to a perfect crispy skin, so juicy and tender biting into them with an incredible garlicky flavour. And for extra decadence — a creamy, mushroom beer gravy to top them off. Not necessary. But so good. Even if you’re not a beer fan…it makes an incredible creamy flavour to enjoy with your juicy chicken.
13. Creamy Chicken And Broccoli Pumpkin Alfredo
A creamy and healthier alfredo sauce made with pumpkin instead of flour, with tender chicken breast pieces and broccoli. Perfect with any pasta.
Digging this one out of the archives…so please excuse the images. But I couldn’t leave this one out. Bacon and bolognese stuffed inside Sweet Potatoes!
15. Beef And Pumpkin Shepard’s Pie
Another one from the trenches. A family favourite and a winner on cooler nights. A crispy parmesan cheesy top over mashed pumpkin, layered with a rich beefy filling. Yeah.
16. Pumpkin and Spinach Soup with Crispy Bacon
And I couldn’t leave this list without soup. A creamy and rich pumpkin soup aka in this house as Shrek soup. Because it’s green, and the only way my son will show any interest in anything green. Or healthy. With crispy bacon blended into this soup…you’ll be reaching for thirds.
