  • Asparagus: Fresh green spears with woody ends trimmed; thicker stalks grill evenly and stay tender crisp.
  • Olive Oil: Helps the seasonings cling and encourages those flavorful charred edges.
  • Garlic: Adds savory depth that perfumes the grilled green asparagus without overpowering it.
  • Lemon Juice: A quick squeeze at the end lifts the smoky flavors and makes the best grilled asparagus pop.

  1. Preheat And Oil: Brush grill grates lightly with canola oil. Preheat the grill on high until hot and clean, so the asparagus sears quickly and releases easily.
  1. Prep The Spears: Wash and pat dry trimmed asparagus. Toss with olive oil, minced garlic, salt and cracked pepper until every spear is evenly coated.
  1. Grill One Side: Arrange spears perpendicular to the grates over direct heat, or use a hot grill pan. Grill 3 to 4 minutes until lightly charred and nicely marked.
  1. Flip And Finish: Turn spears and grill another 3 to 4 minutes until fork tender. Transfer to a platter, then add parmesan and a squeeze of lemon if desired.
