Salad Dressing
As usual, I always try to create salad recipes that you only need ONE dressing / marinade. A salad that uses one thing for two uses. This comes from years of making salads that require completely different marinades for your meat of choice, then drowning it in a completely different tasting dressing, only confusing my brain and taste buds even more. Why do that when you can create one delicious marinade and use it as a dressing? That kinds makes more sense.
How To Make Salmon Salad
This recipe is so simple, we can break it down in four easy steps:
- Make dressing/marinade
- Coat salmon in said dressing/marinade
- Sear salmon
- Mix all salad veggies together and top with salmon
What Goes In Salmon Salad
We used typical Mediterranean ingredients to make up the bulk of this salad:
- Sliced cucumbers
- Feta cheese — you could also use Goats cheese
- Kalamata olives — or nay olives your prefer
- Tomatoes
You can also add in sliced marinated artichokes, eggplant, sun dried tomatoes, or any other ingredients you have on hand!
The creamy avocado slices bring all of those ingredients together to create perfect harmony with the seared and crisp salmon pieces.

This recipe is amazing! I have been hoping to find a recipe that had the flavors of this salad and boy did this deliver! I opted to add the red wine vinegar. Thank you so much for creating this recipe and I can’t wait to make it again!

I made it tonight and give it an A+. The salad was a potpourri of flavor and textures, as the crunchiness of the cucumbers complemented the smoothness of the avocado, the seared salmon with the sweetness of the tomatoes, and the feta cheese and olives topping it off with a saltiness and chewiness.
Yet it is the dressing that is key. All that flavor could have been drowned out if the dressing was overpowering or too strong. But this dressing was perfect. It highlighted the flavors and brought out each individual quality- it didn’t compete with them. Just a great and healthy recipe. Thanks for sharing with us.
As an fyi I did do one thing different that I think actually added something to an already great recipe. I followed the advice from America’s Test Kitchen and seared the salmon in a pan that started out cold and gradually heated it up (which allows the fat to melt better in the fish). I therefore didn’t marinade the fish. After searing it I cut it up and put it in a bowl and drizzled some dressing over it and mixed it. Then I transferred it to the salad.
