What Makes This Recipe Work

Nutella melts beautifully into warm milk, giving this Nutella hot chocolate a rich, velvety texture and that unmistakable hazelnut-chocolate flavor. There’s no need for extra chocolate or sweeteners; everything you need is already in the jar.

The result is creamy, comforting, and just a little over-the-top in the best way. With melty marshmallows on top and maybe a few crunchy hazelnuts for good measure, it’s the kind of treat that makes grey days feel a little more golden.

What Goes Into Nutella Hot Chocolate

This Nutella Hot Chocolate comes together with just a few simple ingredients, but the result is ultra-rich and cozy. It’s easy to customize and even easier to love.

A few key ingredients to note:

  • Nutella: The hero of this recipe, adding smooth, creamy hazelnut-chocolate flavor.
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: Deepens the chocolate taste and balances the sweetness.
  • Milk: Use low fat or skim milk for a lighter version, or go full cream for extra indulgence.

Recipe FAQ’s

Can I Use Any Type Of Milk?

Yes! Low fat, skim, full cream, almond, oat, or soy milk all work well depending on your preference.

Can I Make Nutella Hot Chocolate Without Cocoa Powder?

You can, but cocoa powder adds a deeper chocolate flavor. Leaving it out will result in a milder, more Nutella-forward taste.

How Do I Make It Extra Creamy?

Use whole milk or add a splash of cream while heating. For an ultra-decadent version, blend the finished drink for a frothy finish.

Getting ready to make this and I am wondering if I could use almond milk because I am trying to stay away from large amounts of dairy but love hot chocolate!

Just made this and it’s delicious! I tweaked it a bit and made a smaller batch so I used 2/cups of milk, 2tbsp of cocoa powder, skipped the sugar and used extra Nutella instead cuz everything is better with extra Nutella lol. It’s delightful!
