Homemade pizza was always a favorite at home, but to be honest, I don’t always have the time to make it the classic way. So I tried this instead. This air fryer tortilla pizza is EASY and QUICK to make, with all the flavor of a real pizza in just 10 minutes.
Now, my version has a little twist, and if you love stuffed crust like I do, you’ll keep this one on repeat.
Say goodbye to that pizza craving you never get to satisfy this fast.

Why This Recipe Works
Scrolling on social media always makes me want to try something new. I was looking for an easy recipe to make since my kids were away and I was home alone, and I kept seeing this viral tortilla pizza everywhere. Of course, I had to try it… But my way.
I immediately texted my daughter, and just like that, it became dinner the next day. In less than 30 minutes, the whole family had their own personal pizza, movie night was on, and it turned into one of those simple moments you want to repeat.
The best part? You can add WHATEVER you want. Your favorite pizza topping in your preferred amount. No two pizzas are ever the same, and you still get a crispy, perfect size pizza that keeps you satisfied every single time. No classic bake needs it.
Ingredients

- Flour Tortilla: This is your “crust,” so it matters. A flour tortilla gives you that thin, crispy base while still holding everything together. It cooks fast in the air fryer and gets golden around the edges without turning too hard or dry.
- Mozzarella (String Cheese + Shredded): Using string cheese for the crust gives you that stuffed, cheesy edge, while shredded mozzarella melts evenly over the top. This combo gives you the best of both worlds: structure + that perfect cheese pull.
- Pesto: Instead of traditional pizza sauce, pesto adds more flavor and richness with very little effort. The oil in the pesto also helps the tortilla crisp up better, so you get a more golden, flavorful base.
- Toppings (Pepperoni, Chorizo, Tomatoes, etc.): This is where you make it your own. Just keep it balanced, too many toppings can weigh the tortilla down and stop it from getting crispy. A mix of something savory + something fresh works best.

Add-Ins & Substitutions
This easy tortilla pizza recipe is all about flexibility. You can keep it simple with low carb tortillas for a lighter option, or swap in pizza dough if you want something a little more traditional and hearty. A light brush of olive oil on the base helps everything crisp up beautifully and adds extra flavor.
- Sauces & Cheese:
Start with your favorite base, whether that’s a classic tomato sauce or something a little different like pesto. Mozzarella is always a go-to for that melty texture, but you can mix things up with cheddar cheese or parmesan cheese for a different finish. - Protein Options:
You can keep it simple or go all in. Chicken works perfectly if you want something lighter, while turkey pepperonis are a great quick option with lots of flavor. If you’re craving something more filling, a meat-lovers version with a mix of proteins is always a win. - Veggies & Fresh Additions:
This is where you can really make it your own. Add veggies like spinach, green peppers, or red onion for extra flavor and texture. These not only balance out the richness of the cheese but also give your pizza a fresh, colorful finish.
Make It Your Own!
Don’t be afraid to play around with additional toppings depending on what you have on hand. This recipe is designed to be flexible, so you can switch ingredients in and out and still end up with something delicious every time.
How To Make It

- Start with a wrap tortilla. Place 3 cheese sticks along the edges to form a triangle shape.

- Fold the sides of the tortilla inward, using the cheese to help hold and define the shape.

- This is the fun part. Start building your toppings with a base. I like using pesto, but you can also use tomato sauce or tomato pesto. Choose your favorite pasta sauce.

- Add mozzarella cheese, then layer your favorite toppings. For a heartier version, you can add ham or beef. You can also include tomatoes, mushrooms or bell pepper. This is where you can really make it your own.

- For a golden, crispy crust, lightly brush the outside with egg wash. This step is completely optional.

- Carefully transfer the tortilla to the air fryer basket. Sprinkle a little oregano around the crust for extra flavor before cooking.

- Air fry at 380°F (190°C) for 7–10 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the crust is golden and crispy.

- Remove the toothpicks and transfer to a plate. The cheese should be melted and gooey. Serve immediately and enjoy.
Tips For The Best Tortilla Pizza Every Time
Getting this tortilla pizza just right comes down to a few small details that make a big difference in texture and flavor.
Using large tortillas helps create enough space to fold and seal the edges properly without tearing. If the tortilla is too small, it can be harder to hold the filling in place while cooking.
If you’re using an oven instead of an air fryer, place the tortilla on a hot baking sheet so the base starts crisping immediately. You can also finish it under the broiler for a minute or two to get extra color on top.
A toaster oven works just as well for smaller portions. It gives you a similar result without needing to heat a full oven, making it perfect for quick snacks or single servings.
For storing leftovers, place them in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When reheating, use the oven or air fryer instead of the microwave to bring back the texture.
If you’re using marinara sauce instead of pesto, keep the layer thin to avoid excess moisture. This helps prevent the base from softening too much while cooking.
More Easy Recipes
This tortilla pizza became my son’s after-school snack for a reason. There are no leftovers and it’s one of those quick meals that disappears the second it hits the table. On busy days, it fits right in with other easy, no-fuss options such as a burger bowl with a creamy sauce, simple tuna salad , or a oven-baked sweet potato with toppings when you want something filling without the effort. If you’re in the mood for something a bit more hearty, a loaded taco-style bowl with sweet potato follows that same easy vibe.
FAQs
Yes, tortillas work really well as a thin and crispy pizza base. In this version, the edges are folded and filled to create a stuffed crust, giving you the same pizza experience with a fun twist. They cook much faster than traditional pizza dough and are perfect for quick meals or snacks.
Too much sauce or too many toppings can release moisture and soften the base. Using less sauce and cooking at a higher heat helps prevent this.
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are crisp and the cheese is melted.
To keep it crispy, avoid overloading with sauce or toppings and cook at a high temperature. Preheating your oven or air fryer also helps create a crisp base.
