Just a few simple pantry staples come together to make this Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate incredibly smooth, rich, and comforting. Each ingredient adds its own layer of flavor and creaminess.

  • Low Fat Milk: This gives you a creamy base without making the drink too heavy, allowing the chocolate and peanut butter flavors to shine.
  • Nutella: A small amount adds hazelnut richness and a thicker texture that makes every sip feel more indulgent.
  • Smooth Peanut Butter: This melts right into the hot milk and creates that signature sweet and salty balance that sets this recipe apart.
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: It deepens the chocolate flavor so the drink tastes rich and full, not overly sweet.

Note: Please see recipe card at the bottom for a full list of ingredients with measurements.

Keep stirring as it simmers lightly, letting the mixture thicken
  1. Simmer Gently: Keep stirring as it simmers lightly, letting the mixture thicken before removing it from the heat.
Pour into mugs and finish with marshmallows, chocolate chips, extra Nutella.
  1. Serve and Top: Pour into mugs and finish with marshmallows, chocolate chips, extra Nutella, or any toppings you like.

This Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate is extra cozy alongside a plate of Soft Peanut Butter Cookies, their warm peanut flavor echoing the drink in the best way. If you want something more indulgent, pair it with Nutella Hot Chocolate Oatmeal, which brings that creamy chocolate hazelnut comfort full circle. For a sweet bakery-style treat, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Crepes are the ultimate match, giving you that melt-in-your-mouth combination of peanut butter and chocolate in every bite.

And once again, those marshmallows melted on top and slowly flowing through the chocolate to make a thick and sweet foamy topping will have you smacking your lips and licking the stickiness off them like it’s no ones bu’ness. Because it’s totally not.

Hello Karina! I was wondering (because I want to start eating healthy) are nuttela and marshmallows unhealthy? Thank you!

    1. Karina says:

Not really healthy, no, these would be a ‘sometimes’ thing. But you can find healthier marshmallows and chocolate hazelnut spreads at health food stores, (or make your own, which I will be doing and posting very soon!).
