Hi Im from South Africa – what can I use instead of grits?

    1. Karina Carrel says:

Hi Lorraine for South Africa! You can use polenta or a coarse mealie meal (cooked into a creamy pap). Both have a similar texture to grits and will work perfectly to soak up that delicious shrimp sauce! Enjoy!! Xx

    Hi Karina,
Have been following your recipes for quite a few years and have always been able to save your recipes on your site, but today I wanted to save your potato salad recipe but there was no icon on the site for me to click (the little heart) to save it. I also could not see on the very top of the page my account. Has your website changed and are we no longer able to save your recipes?
    Thanks for your feedback!

    1. Karina Carrel says:

Hi Lina, thank you so much for following my recipes for all these years! Nothing has changed on the website, and the little heart icon is still there. When the save button or account menu disappears, it is usually caused by a setting on your device or browser. Try to turn off your ad blocker, sometimes they accidentally hide the save button. Check your browser mode if it’s set to Private or Incognito modes as the site needs cookies to log in and save recipes. Clearing your browser’s history and cache often forces the page and menu to reload properly. Let me know if that brings the heart back so you can save the potato salad! Hope this helps Xx

Yes! Thank you, Karina, this did help, now I can see the little heart and my account!
        Appreciate your help!!

    1. Karina Carrel says:

Hi Daz, I sure do, just in the recipe card next to the word ingredients there is a button to toggle between US or Metric. Enjoy! Xx

Trying to get my teenage boys to eat good food. I was not from a wealthy family so we had all the vegetables that someone from England could eat. Because my ex could not cook my kids went without.

    Hi Karina,
I found your recipe for chimichurri after a search online, not that this Englishman spelt correctly the name for a dressing from South America that lurked in the recesses of his memory. So glad, I found you, simple, fresh (had to undertake special shopping trip for vinegar and olive oil after your laying down of the law about quality!) tasty, still adjusting, as am overdoing the salt I think by using ‘tube’ garlic, So may have to try fresh or drop the garlic altogether.
Thought your dedication of the recipe to your Dad and relaying those very personal memories from his youth (along with a beautifully produced and filmed video) have made this a very special recipe now, for this 60 year old male from the other side of the world, bringing back different, but some how the same, memories of growing up in the English countryside, carefree halcyon days steeped in freedom :-)).
Anyhow this message has become quite long so signing off now, sending many thanks for you and the team, great effort guys.
